Based on the PEN-F 35mm Film Camera

It pays homage to the design and build-quality of the original Pen-F 35mm film camera. First released in 1963 the original was ahead of its time. The fact that it is still used by artists, film aficionados and professional photojournalists the world over is a true testament of its build-quality and imaging ability.

20 Megapixel Live MOS Sensor

An updated 20 Megapixel Live MOS sensor delivers the highest imaging resolution among Olympus mirrorless cameras to date. Combined with the proven TruePic VII image processor and a low-pass filter-less design, the F is equipped to produce exceptional images with impressive clarity and true-to-life colour representation.

5-Axis VCM Image Stabilisation

Detail and image sharpness are complemented by a sophisticated 5-axis Voice Coil Motor (VCM) image stabilisation system. Minimising blurry images caused by camera shake, its class leading 5-axis design delivers a 5 shutter speed stop advantage over non stabilised shooting, equipping you with advanced exposure flexibility when shooting hand held and in low-light scenarios.

Sync IS Compatible

The 5-axis sensor stabilisation system provides the best of both worlds. It maximises the sharpness and image resolution on modern, non-IS lenses or vintage adapted lenses plus delivers compatibility with the latest Sync IS technology for even more effective image stabilisation on lenses with built-in IS such as the M.Zuiko 300mm f/4 IS PRO lens.

High-Res 50 Megapixel JPG or 80 Megapixel RAW Files

A High-Res Shot mode also takes advantage of the advanced 5-axis stabilisation system to equip you with the ability to produce ultra-high 50 Megapixel JPEG or 80 Megapixel RAW files. Rivalling images captured from top-of-the-line Full Frame DSLRs, the high-res shot mode uses the sensor-shift technology of the stabiliser and the TruePic image processor to move the sensor in ultra-precise half pixel increments and composite an exceptionally large, extremely detailed image that can be used for ultra-high quality commercial printing applications or offer unparalleled post-processing versatility.

One-Touch Full-HD Video Recording

Full-HD videos can be recorded in an instant thanks to the dedicated movie-record button. Recorded videos also take advantage of the 5-axis stabiliser, offering silky smooth clips, even when walking or filming from a moving vehicle.

1/8000th Maximum Shutter Speed

The proven autofocus performance of the range of M.Zuiko lenses is combined with an improvement and refinement in mechanical control systems to deliver a 1/8000th maximum shutter speed and a shutter release lag time of just 44ms. This ultra-responsive performance helps photojournalists and everyday photographers capture and preserve fleeting moments and split second actions that can often tell an entire story.

Ergonomically Positioned Controls

Its beautifully designed dials and camera controls do more than merely give the camera an unmistakable style. Ergonomically positioned to suit the demands of the modern photographer, the controls have been optimised to make it easy and intuitive to change various exposure settings such as aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation without taking your eye from the viewfinder.

Dedicated Creative Dial

A dedicated Creative Dial on the front face of the camera pays tribute to its film origins with a Monochrome and Colour Profile Control system. Designed to simulate the imaging characteristics of film, the system is a handy shortcut to utilising one of three built-in colour pre-sets (Default, Chrome Film Rich Colour, Chrome Film Vivid Saturation) or three built-in mono pre-sets (Default, Classic Film B&W, Classic Film Infrared) to add a unique or charming element to your images.

12 pre-defined colours can be fine-tuned in 11 step increments. In addition, highlight and shadow control with and the ability to add a grain effect, ensures you are equipped to customise your image output to exactly suit your desired look.

2.36-Million Dot Electronic Viewfinder

A first for the Olympus PEN range, the Pen-F utilises a bright, ultra-high resolution 2.36million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder. Featuring aspherical lens elements for reduced distortion, the EVF offers a 100% field of view and 0.62x magnification, making it easy to monitor composition, exposure and autofocus.

3-inch Swivel LCD Touch Screen

The rear houses a versatile 3-inch swivel LCD touchscreen with a sharp 1037k-dot resolution. Delivering an intuitive menu navigation and image shooting experience, the vari-angle ability of the screen is also perfect for selfies and vlogging duties, while also making it a breeze to shoot from extreme low and high angles.

Built-in WiFi for Instant Photo Sharing

Built-in Wi-Fi is combined with the sophisticated OI.Share app to turn your compatible smartphone or tablet into a wireless camera remote. The app, also streamlines sharing of your images to friends, family and your favourite social media platforms.
